Review criteria and rejection reasons
What our team checks, and the most common reasons patterns are rejected.
The 5 things we check
- 1
Is the thumbnail right?
It should clearly show the finished piece.
- 2
Is the category right?
Craft, category, and difficulty should match the actual pattern.
- 3
Is the pattern complete?
Someone should be able to follow it from start to finish with no missing steps.
- 4
Is it your original work?
It must not copy or transcribe another pattern or publication.
- 5
Does the description match?
Title, description, and yarn, needle, and gauge details should match the Paper.
Common rejection reasons
- Thumbnail
- It doesn't show the result well. Use a photo that clearly shows the finished piece.
- Category
- The chosen category doesn't match the pattern. Pick the right one.
- Incomplete
- Steps or instructions are missing. Fill them in so others can follow it to the end.
- Possible copyright issue
- It looks very similar to another pattern or publication. Only original work can be shared.
- Description mismatch
- The title, description, or specs differ from the Paper. Make them match.
- Readability
- The pattern is hard to read. Tidy up chart size, text, and photos.
Low-quality patterns may not pass
The criteria stay the same during events. Patterns that are hard for others to follow may be rejected.
